RADIO SHOW COMING UP
Some of you have asked me to let you know before instead of after-the-fact when and where I’m going to make an appearance. Thought I’d let you know that next week — Wednesday, October 12 at 4:00 o’clock pm Eastern Time; 1:00 pm Pacific — (add two hours to Pacific if you’re in Minnesota), I’ll be visiting with Dr. Jennifer Howard on her radio show, “A Conscious Life.” Her show’s goal is to help listeners take charge of their lives. It holds the promise of being a good interview as Dr. Howard is a real pro and cares about what she does — and I’m raw as all get out. Never can tell what might happen.

Besides, it will help make up for all the blogs I’ve missed lately. Thinking about doing some on boundaries and more on standing up for ourselves. Have you seen what one woman did by speaking up? She has a Petition ready for Bank of America stating how customers feel about the threatened extra charge for using a debit card. Crazy. The bank will make millions off from this one small charge — one small charge that means a lot when the budget is tight. Bank of America may or may not pay attention, but it (the Petition) sends a message to the other banks that are considering it too. If this keeps up, we’ll need quarters to use the restrooms on airplanes before long. It’s time for the buck to stop here. Literally. With each of us. Okay — back to the paperwork, but join us next week if you can.

Hi Melody, just finished listening to your interview with Jennifer, great show! Nice to hear your voice for a change and really interested when you have time for your two eventual books some day (I realize you’re in the screenwriting process at this time). I have a mother who’s memory problems are concerning me more these days. Like you, not the friendliest mother daughter relationship, it changed for us a year ago, so I’m more conscious of what she’s going through these days. And the one about standing up for yourself, I know will be timely as I watch how so many get stuck with not knowing how to stand up for themselves or others these days.
Thanks for your comments. Jennifer is a sweetie — a hard-working woman. In all honesty,’m excited about writing those two books too — the ‘caring for our parents when they’re aging an particularly have ementia’ is one that really pulls on me right now, an woul go nicely with the screenplay I’m working on (or rather will be working on when I finish my paperwork). I wish it woul have been a call-in; we could have gotten together. I shoul pop a chat-room back up on my site so we can get together online some night — the group of us. It’ be fun. Kind of like “alumni week.”
I like the sound of “alumni week” sometime, lots of fun!

Thanks Liz. I get so complacent about doing radio shows that I often don’t think of posting upcoming ones (plus it feels so self-serving — like commercials). But I will do it from now on. I’ve been getting a lot of invitations to discuss identity theft and the loss I just went through — and how people can make sure it doesn’t happen to them. My new financial manager says that “as of Monday, I’ll be writing again and they’ll be taking care of my bills, taxes, etc.” That makes me happy, plus opens space for me to begin connecting with my readers again. I’m a recovering alcoholic and I have started a blog talk radio show. We have weekly, special guests talking about growing up, what happened to change our lives and what we are doing today to continue to grow. This is NOT an A.A. thing even though many of my guests are in recovery. (Go figure) It’s pretty loose and informal. I would be honored if you would consider being a guest. Hi Todd…Didn’t my response post? I said that I’d be happy to do your show, that nobody gets paid to be on radio or tv shows (it’s the industry standard not to pay your guests) so I wouldn’t expect or accept payment anyway. Right now, I’m crazy busy finishing info for my new financial manager. However, you can contact me at MelodyLBeattie@msn.com and we’ll work something out. If I don’t respond to your email within two or three days, it means it got lost in junk mail. (Been having some technological/communication problems lately.)
